Ara transports the viewer into the dunes, into liminal zones of self where forgetfulness cradles and generates meaning. The frame loom, like the one featured in this film, maintains weaving in place through tension and elements’ taught relationality. Inherent to woven form, the gap–in weaving, in time, in presence, in memory—is taken up as a critical node of the self as the character reflects on film, translation, violation, and record.
